Moremac is a Melbourne-based developer building flourishing communities across Australia. They exist to bring about transformative places of long-lasting value. Moremac has a knack for seeing opportunities where others cannot, even in the most challenging of locations. They needed a genuine, natural, inclusive and inspiring identity for their development in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer-west suburb of Deanside. They wanted potential buyers to feel inspired by this place to grow their future, that invites nature in and celebrates the benefits of a tight-knit local community.ClientMoremac

Outcome
We saw the community as a growing patchwork – stages were completed at different times, buyers could customise their home, and people from all over the world have made Deanside Village home. The brand system was born through creative play with patchwork patterns. I worked with a pattern inspired by the blocks of the community’s masterplan until I had something that felt uniquely Deanside, yet reminiscent of a quilted pattern found in various cultures. The pattern proved useful to create a suite of frames, and to inform simpler shapes that I could layer with photography to invite nature into our layouts. With the need for a friendly serif and sans pairing, Season felt like the natural choice of type family. It only felt right to create a custom rounded oldstyle logomark with Season’s serif cut to sit perfectly alongside our type hierarchy.
